Private Lessons

  • Lessons are given in person at my home studio at the same time each week.

  • Lessons start at 45 minutes for beginning students and increase in length as students progress. Students wishing to participate in festivals and competitions require weekly one-hour lessons.

  • Parents of beginning elementary age students should plan on staying for the entire lesson for the first semester to help best support their child while practicing at home. All parents are always welcome to stay for lessons provided it does not interfere with the lesson. No younger siblings, please.

  • Group performance classes are held twice each semester and once in the summer, usually on a Saturday morning.

                          Private Lesson Tuition

  • Rates are based off of 42 lessons per year: 36 lessons during the school year and 6 lessons in the summer. Group performance classes (held 5 times per year) are included in tuition.

  • Please note that tuition is a flat monthly rate and does not change based on the number of lessons per month. Tuition is based on a yearly rate, paid in 12 equal monthly installments, however you are not committed for an entire year.

  • Autopay through Stripe on your My Music Staff account is required at registration. Tuition is charged on the last day of the month for the next month.

  • Please contact me for more information on monthly tuition rates.

                           Partner Lessons

  • Partner Lessons are available for beginning students ages 4-5.  Lessons are 45 minutes and held weekly at the same times each week in my studio.  One parent needs to be present for the duration of the lesson, no younger siblings, please.

  • Partner lesson commitments are for 1 school year, September-May.  Tuition is billed in 2 installments (50% in September and 50% in January).

  • It's best for you to partner with a friend that can come at the same day/time as you!  Otherwise you can join my partner waiting list and I will look for a good match, but that may take a little longer.

  • Partner lessons are designed for young beginners for 1 school year, then students are transitioned to private lessons after that year.  6 private lessons in the summer are required to hold your place for a time in my fall schedule.

  • Be prepared to sing, dance, play the piano, and have fun with friends!

Cancellation Policy

  • Please give as much notice as possible if you will miss your piano lesson.  If you will miss a lesson, out of courtesy, please cancel it online through your My Music Staff account.

  • If you are sick, please stay home.  You may switch to an online lesson during your regularly scheduled lesson time if you are feeling up to it!

  • Your tuition reserves a specific weekly lesson time just for you! In the event you are not at your lesson, you may send me a video recording of the pieces you are working on before your regular lesson time and I will send feedback to keep you on track for the week. No makeup lessons are offered unless the teacher cancels the lesson.

  • Monthly tuition is nonrefundable.  If you wish to discontinue piano lessons, please give as much notice as possible.

Calendar

  • Lessons generally follow the Public Schools Calendar. There are 36 piano lessons scheduled for each school year and 6 in the summer.  There are no lessons on Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break Week, Winter Break Weeks, Spring Break Week, or the last week of school in June.  The calendar can be viewed on your My Music Staff account.

Books

  • I will purchase books for each student as needed and include them on the next month’s billing statement.  Books for new students generally cost between $25-$30 and last at least 1 semester.

Practicing

  • Yes, practicing is very important!  It is also very important to have an acoustic piano or full size, touch/weight sensitive keyboard with a pedal at home to practice on.  Please consider investing in a quality instrument even as a beginning pianist so that you may have the best learning experience possible.  Having a quiet space without distractions and dedicated time each day to practice is key to student success.

  • Each week students and parents will be given a printed and emailed assignment of what to practice and how to practice it.  Younger children must have adult assistance with daily practice. Consistent failure to practice may result in termination of piano lessons.

Events

  • Students are encouraged to participate in a studio recital each semester. Additionally, there are several festivals and competitions to participate in throughout the year for students who are ready and wish to do so through local and national music associations.

  • Brenda is a member of the MTNA, ISMTA, and CAMTA.

Media Release

  • Pictures and videos of students may be posted on my studio website or included in studio publications.  You may opt out by sending an email.
